Foreword

The Occupational Safety and Health Council (OSHC) is dedicated to offer quality safety training programmes for the employees in line with the social and international development. In view of the growing risk of economic downturn and challenge in business operation has been forecasted, the Occupational Safety and Health Council steps up the OSH training support for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) starting from 2020, in order to address the needs of different industries and to improve their safety performance during the economic hardship.

To encourage SMEs continue to upgrade the occupational safety and health knowledge of their staff in this period, OSHC will offer the course fee reduction scheme for SMEs to enjoy 50% discount from 2020 to the first quarter of 2023 (SME that is, any manufacturing businesses which employ fewer than 100 persons in Hong Kong; or any non-manufacturing businesses which employ fewer than 50 persons in Hong Kong), except for the Mandatory Safety Training Courses, as well as Boilers and Steam Receivers Safety Courses that 30% discount is given to SMEs.

In addition, to fully support the most affected industries including Catering, Retail and Hotel and Tourism, OSHC will offer 9 free OSH courses which are 5S Good Housekeeping for Catering Establishments (5SCA), Basic Catering Safety (BCA), Catering Safety (CA), Safety and Health Training for Management Staff in Catering Industry (CASHM), Return to Work Management for Food and Beverage Services (RTW(CA)), General Health for Salesmen and Promoters (GHSP), Retailing Safety (RE), General Safety in Hotels (HTL) and Occupational Safety and Health for Tour Escort and Tour Guide (TOU). Through the step-up course fee reduction scheme, employers and employees are also encouraged to take part in OSH training and enhance safety awareness, thereby reducing work accidents, on the other hand increasing competitiveness.
