Keeping workplace hygienic and tidy is very important when protecting employees' safety and health. If the workplace hygiene is not good, employees will be affected by various types of hazards, such as inhaling excessive hazardous dusts or gas which can seriously affect their respiratory system. Besides, infectious diseases such as plague and dengue fever will also be transmitted by rodents and mosquito breeding in the workplace. The public may also be affected by the poor workplace hygiene. For example, dust, waste water, noise, solid waste, breeding bacteria and mosquito generated during the manufacturing processes will affect the public and the surrounding environment. Therefore, employers are responsible to keep the working environment hygienic and tidy so that the employees can work safely and healthy.
To ensure the workplace hygiene and tidiness, we need not only the senior management’s commitment, but also the managing staff to implement relevant control measures. Therefore, the management and frontline supervising staff of the workplace must have the knowledge of how to manage workplace hygiene in order to implement good workplace hygiene programmes and environmental-friendly manufacturing processes.
