This course is designed to provide the necessary occupational safety and health knowledge to enable supervisors to establish and maintain high standards of health and safety at work. By the end of the course, each participant should have a basic knowledge of occupational hazards and precautionary safety measures required to maintain a safe and healthy working environment. This course is recognized by the Labour Department and is also suitable for those who are assigned to carry out the duties of safety supervisor under the Factories and Industrial Undertakings (Safety Officers and Safety Supervisors) Regulations. This course is divided into four modules:
1. Basic Safety Management (SM)
2. Basic Accident Prevention (GS)
3. Basic Occupational Health (OH)
4. Construction Safety (CO)
This course has been granted the accreditation status at QF Level 3 under the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications (HKCAAVQ), and the course has also been enlisted in the Qualifications Register (QR). This is an assurance for successful students to have acquired the skills and knowledge that meet the needs of the construction industries.
Starting from 1st January 2014, students who complete the Certificate for Safety and Health Supervisors (Construction) Course would be granted the accreditation status at QF Level 3. It provides the course participants a pathway for lifelong learning in the area of the occupational safety and health.
