Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWP) are widely used in various workplaces for tasks ranging from construction, maintenance, and repairing to cleaning at elevated heights. According to the Occupational Safety and Health Ordinance and the Factories and Industrial Undertakings Ordinance, employers and contractors are responsible for providing the necessary training for MEWP operators; however, there are no specific regulations regarding the content and duration of this training. Currently, most workers operating MEWPs only receive basic operation training provided by the MEWP suppliers before beginning their work.
However, in recent years, fatal accidents involving MEWPs have occurred frequently, raising concerns about whether this basic training equips operators with the necessary safety awareness and knowledge to prevent accidents. This course is designed for MEWP operators and will cover safety precautions for using MEWPs, including pre-use check, safe operating rules, fall prevention measures, and emergency response procedures. It will also share relevant accident cases and highlight "accident traps" that operators often overlook, aiming to enhance their safety awareness and knowledge to prevent accidents.
This course is co-organized by the OSHC and the International Powered Access Federation (IPAF). The course aligns with the theoretical requirements of ISO 18878 and GB/T 27549, providing a solid foundation in operator safety training (full compliance of ISO 18878 also requires the completion of practical training, which can be further obtained from IPAF Training Center). With limited market options offering operator safety training courses that meet these rigorous international standards, our program ensures high-quality theory training and industry recognition.
