In recent years, the major duty of many Mainland cross-border truck drivers is to transport precast units or other materials from Mainland factories to construction sites in Hong Kong for installation. When Mainland drivers drive vehicles into the construction site, they may also face occupational safety and health risks that may arise on the construction site, such as collides with objects or other vehicles. To prevent accidents, Mainland cross-border truck drivers need to improve their safety awareness and knowledge when driving into construction sites. In addition, Mainland cross-border truck drivers must also understand that they cannot undertake work outside the scope of their arrival endorsement, nor can they be employed to perform other unauthorized work, otherwise it would be illegal. After completing this course, you should be able to: understand the basic concepts of work safety; recognize the basic legal requirements applicable to construction sites in Hong Kong; understand the dangers of transporting precast units or other materials into the site by truck, the common dangers on the construction site and the corresponding preventive measures; recognize the common accidents on the construction site, their causes and preventive measures; understand the basic concepts of fire prevention and list the basic elements of emergency preparedness; understand the importance of reporting accidents and dangerous incidents and the reporting procedures; master the types, uses, proper selection procedures, and appropriate use methods of personal protective equipment commonly used on construction sites; and demonstrate the appropriate safety attitude (including not undertaking driving duties outside the approved scope, nor being employed to perform other unauthorized work such as assisting in unloading), in order to protect yourself and other workers. (Note: Completion of this course by Mainland cross-border truck drivers does not mean that they can legally perform work outside the scope of their entry permits on construction sites in Hong Kong.)
