“Mental Health First Aid” is an international certificate course originally developed in Australia and gradually spread throughout countries like USA, Canada, UK, Scotland, Finland, Singapore, Hong Kong etc. It is a 12-hour training course that teaches how to help someone who is experiencing a mental health problem or in a mental health crisis, before he or she can obtain professional help.
This course involves theoretical lecture supplemented with video, practical exercise and quiz. This course is designed for personnel who works in social welfare service, health care service, customer service, human resources or job-related requirement to have mental health first aid knowledge.

1. Introduction to mental health problems and the five key approaches of mental health first aid
2. Basic knowledge of common mental health problems (depression, anxiety problems, psychosis and substance use problems)
3. Identification of risk factors and warning signs of mental health problems and the action plan of mental health first aid to help someone in mental health crisis

Language: Cantonese supplemented with Chinese notes
Prerequisites: 18 years age or above and ability to read and write in Chinese
Remark: ● Award of Certificate: 100% attendance
● Students who are absent from the class, late or leave earlier for more than 30 minutes in a class will be regarded as absent for that session.
