Hong Kong is an advanced society, our citizens can enjoy the privileges of receiving international standards of medical, first-aid and emergency rescue service, which is due to the great contribution from our Hong Kong medical teams and emergency service departments. First-aid is one of the essential elements in the emergency preparedness. In the last decade, the first-aid work task has been transformed from solely evacuating the casualty to the hospital into delivering the medical control officers and medical teams to help provide treatment to the injured at the scene. It is recommended to aim for the best and prepare for the worst, every workplace should have an emergency preparedness plan. A detailed emergency and rescue plan for serious workplace accidents should be prepared beforehand to ensure an effective arrangement in medical examination and triage as well as evacuation casualties and the allocation of the rescue resources. After completing the course, participants will be able to understand the emergency preparedness principle and the corresponding rescue arrangement for serious workplace accidents.
