Keeping the sites tidy and clean is very important for protecting employees’ health and safety at work. If it is not controlled properly, workers may face to the physical, chemical and biological hazards. For example, breathing in excess amount of dusts, exhaust gas, asbestos could affect workers’ respiratory system seriously. The rats and mosquito breeding in the sites will cause infection diseases, such as plague and dengue fever. The public may also be affected by poor site hygiene. The dusts, waste water, noise, construction debris and the breeding bacteria and mosquito generated in the construction sites will affect the public and the surrounding environment. Therefore, contractors have the responsibilities to maintain the site hygiene and tidiness in order to protect the workers’ health and safety at work.
Beside of the senior management, supervisors are also responsible to ensure the site hygiene and tidiness. Supervisors like site agent, foreman should have the knowledge of environmental protection, as well as how to maintain good site hygiene and tidiness in order to implement good site hygiene management and environmental-friendly construction processes.

1) Ability to read and write in Chinese and 2) Completion of secondary education(F.5 under HKCEE or F.6 under HKDSE) or above or equivalent (applicants should provide copies of certification) or 23 years of age or above and 3 years of working experience (applicants should provide proof of experience) |

● Award of Certificate: 100% attendance and pass the end-of-course examination. ● Students who do not have sufficient attendance are not allowed to attend the examination. ● Students who are absent from the class, late or leave earlier for more than 30 minutes in a class will be regarded as absent for that session. ● The students who complete and pass this course and “Certificate in Safety and Health for Supervisors(Construction) SS / SS(CO)” course within 1 year^. They can also apply for the Combined Certificate for Safety, Health and Environment Supervisors (Construction) Course, SHES(CO). ^ All modules should be completed within one year starting from the beginning of first module (module in no particular order). |
